I returned recently from the 14 day Glories of Bangladesh tour and I had a great time. I normally travel on my own but since Bangladesh has a weak infrastructure I thought it would be easier with a guide. I was not at all disappointed as the trip went off without a hitch. Remarkably, considering how busy the itinerary seemed, we made it to every attraction without ever seeming rushed.
My guide, Faisal, kept things moving along beautifully and was particularly helpful during the four long train rides. Faisal was also always upbeat, even when I was being a pain in the butt. I was also very happy with my driver, Litton, who was very friendly and adept at navigating the maddening traffic in Dhaka as well as the narrow streets of the smaller cities.
I would suggest that you try to interact with the locals, especially in the rural areas, as that resulted in some of the best moments of the trip. Visiting schools, homes, playing cricket and becoming the guest of honor at a Hindu service that I wandered into were all very memorable.
I would also suggest stocking up on pens because kids all over the place were asking for them. And be prepared to be bombarded with selfie requests. Young people there love to take pictures of themselves with Americans and Europeans.
