You’ll get a taste of nature and wildlife at Sundarban and Sreemangal, combined with exploring some great archaeological sites and experiencing life in Bagerhat, Rajshahi, Sonargaon, and Dhaka.
Starting with visiting the megacity Dhaka, one of the most densely populated cities in the world full of activities and an excellent place for street photography, and an overnight journey on a traditional Bangladeshi passenger ferry, you’ll see the numerous archaeological mosques at Bagerhat, including the famous Sixty Dome Mosque, spend three days inside Sundarban mangrove forest, and visit the dilapidating Hindu temples of Puthia built during the British colonial period in 18th & 19th century.
After that, see the 16th-century Kusumba Mosque, one of the two stone-built mosques in Bangladesh, and visit Somapura Mahavihara, the second largest Buddhist monastery south of the Himalayas from the 8th century, and a Santal tribal village en route to experience their lifestyle. Afterward, visit the largest bazaar in north-western Bangladesh, full of activities, and a sandbank island of river Brahmaputra to experience how people live in these small islands struggling with natural disasters.
Later spend three days enjoying the endless tea plantations, villages of different tribes, and the Lawachhara National Park in search of endangered Western Hoolock Gibbons in Sreemangal, and a day in the old capital Sonargaon near Dhaka before returning home. One of My Best Vacations
This was a great trip that provided many new and interesting experiences. Had excellent guides. Our expert drivers stayed calm and cool while driving. Hotels were nice with a helpful staff. Lots of good cheap food. Airport pick-up and drop-off were a big help. I really liked this trip.
I was particularly impressed with the food
I was particularly impressed with the food, especially on the boat in the Sundarbans. The cook was superb. Really all the restaurants we frequented were carefully chosen for authenticity and cleanliness.
A unique and rewarding country
The trip covered Dhaka, Sunderbans, Srimangal, and many other areas and was really well organized. Totally recommend it to anyone wanting to spend time in this unique and rewarding country.
Bangladesh is amazing – wonderful people, great food, very safe
I took the Glories of Bangladesh tour which gives you a taste of everything from the bustling city, the architecture, historic sites, the culture, small village experiences, rural life, nature, the wilderness, bird and animal watching. Amazing!
Found the photography opportunities in Bangladesh wonderful
Bangladesh is an amazing country!!! On the one hand, Bangladesh is very safe to visit, and from the other – almost totally unspoiled with mass tourism. I learned a lot about the country and found the photography opportunities wonderful.
We were the only visitors apart from a few local people
Favourite bits? Difficult to say though the Sundarbans were particularly wonderful, so beautiful and calm. The boat was basic but very clean with good sheets and towels. The food cooked up by Ali in his galley was the best! The other crew members were very friendly and helpful.
Glory of Bangladesh tour was a glorious experience
The 14-day Glory of Bangladesh was a wonderful tour. It had a varied and excellent itinerary of the big-city sights of Dhaka, the wildlife of the Sundarbans (lots of birds, boars, and deer), interesting archaeological sites and UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and villages that were very interesting, very non-touristy, and welcoming.
People were very friendly, wanting to take our photos
The cruise on the Sundarbans was my favourite; could have done a day or so more. Very comfortable boat, lovely crew and plenty of delicious food. It made a lovely change for me to be in a small group of 5.
