Raas Lila is part of the traditional story of the Hindu god Krishna, where he stretched a night and danced with the cowherd girls in Brindaban. Raas festival is celebrated in different places in Bangladesh, among which is the celebration of the Manipuri tribal community in Sreemangal, which is extraordinary. They perform a folk dance drama based on the scenes from Raas Lila. Solo and group dancing are combined with singing, chanted recitation, and instrumental accompaniment. They wear colorful traditional tribal clothes during the performance.

Also, visit endless tea plantations where tourists don’t go, see some authentic villages of different tribes, and experience their lifestyle, visit their school, which we support by bringing study materials on our tours. It was a diverse and colorful, well organized trip
It was a diverse and colorful, well organized trip and I enjoyed every single day of it. If you like photography , Bangladesh is the place to be!! There are so many photo opportunities and many people are happy to be photographed.
Particular highlights were the pre-festival practices
It was an absolutely brilliant tour. Particular highlights were the pre-festival practices we were fortunate to see in peoples homes, the hospitality of the people we met, the crew on our boat in the Sundarbans and what we saw there.
The festival itself was an absolute highlight
We went on the two week Raas Festival tour. Of course the festival itself was an absolute highlight. We went to both a rehearsal day and the actual day of this important Hindu festival. The dancing and costumes were stunning and the way we were made to feel welcome was terrific.
A truly unique experience
Did the Raas Festival tour with Nijhoom (a little over two weeks). Interesting landscapes, chaotic cities, and one of the friendliest people you will find anywhere. If you are looking for something a little different from the norm I can thoroughly recommend.
‘A heaven for photographers’ it is indeed!
I traveled to Bangladesh in 2022 to join the ‘Raas Festival’ tour organised by Nijhoom Tours. It was a small group tour with a packed itinerary. Everything was organised very professionally, staying at various locations in clean and comfortable accommodation. Food was very carefully chosen and very tasty.
Like nothing you’ve seen before
From various hidden corners of the 22-million-resident megapolis of Dhaka, to silent canoeing through passages of the world’s largest delta (the Sundarbans), to serene tea plantations, to the teeming Raas festival itself, we were surrounded by completely new sights, sounds and smells.
Photo opportunities are endless and at every corner
Friends asked me why I was going to Bangladesh. I replied that I thought 1. It would be an interesting country having read up on it 2. that few tourists visit and 3. that the people would be friendly. I was proven right on all 3. I definitely recommend this small Bangladesh tour operator. You are in safe hands.
